What is "Ehsaas Me"?

Samyak:

This project is very close to my heart. It's something my team and I have been working on to assist physically challenged individuals. Our team consists of four people, each with strong experiences related to specially-abled individuals. Two of us have these special individuals within our families, and witnessing their daily struggles has been a driving force behind our project.

From my childhood, I have seen my grandmother, who is deaf, struggle to get involved with people. She has always been stubborn, and with age, she has become even more so. I never really understood why she got frustrated so easily and quickly. After a lot of thought and observing her, I realized it’s her loneliness due to deafness that's affecting her, and her being a widow makes it worse. Even during family gatherings, she stares at us all cluelessly while we talk. It’s like even with family, she feels lonely. I often analyze her behavior during these situations and look into her eyes. She would just smile, but it was a clueless smile.

Deepak shares the story of his grandfather, who cannot see. He experiences the same thing with his grandfather. His grandfather, now accustomed to his weak eyes, walks alone around the village, but he often sits alone, hopeless in the daylight that is dark to him. What goes on in his mind is known only to him, and the visual often seems very lonely and depressing.

We often think these uniquely-abled people struggle in their daily lives and have hardship communicating, commuting, and doing regular stuff. But we never really realize the mental toll it takes on them, how much they suffer mentally and emotionally.

Fear of missing out on your own children’s voices or the cheerful conversations of your family.

Fear of missing out on the smile of your small grandchild or the beauty around the world.

It looks so scary when you see it from their perspective, which we often lack in this busy world.

Ehsaas bridges the gap for people with disabilities to fully participate in and enjoy the beautiful world around them.

We believe that everyone deserves to experience the beauty and wonder of the world.
